Tessa Demidovich

Co-Founder/Lead Interior Designer 

Tessa was born in Hawaii and spent her younger years as an army brat moving around a lot including Hawaii, Germany and Kansas. But settled in Colorado around 5 years old and considers that where she grew up.

Tessa has 12 years of experience in Interior Design. She received her BFA in Interior Design from The Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design with an emphasis on sustainable design Before she started Kali-Lu, all her experience was in New York City where she worked as an interior designer in a boutique design firm and an architecture firm. She also has experience in high end Italian furniture sales.

As the Co-Founder, she has been at Kali-Lu since day 1! Tessa is the lead interior designer and oversees all design projects from start to finish. This includes initial design meetings, conceptual design phases, developmental phases of sourcing materials for each project, running all orders, and managing each project. She prides herself on her organizational skills, leadership skills, creative vision, and her gregarious, easy-going personality which helps her connect with clients to foster strong relationships and create a collaborative working environment. It’s always been a dream of hers to own an interior design firm, so it’s very exciting to see this dream come to life.

Tessa is very athletic and loves to hike, snowboard, and be adventurous. She also loves live music and exploring new food and restaurants. The thing Tessa loves the most is spending time with her daughters and seeing them experience life through their young eyes. She loves rock music including indie rock, classic rock and a little bit of punk rock.

Co-Founder/Construction and Project Manager

Rafa del Gallego

Rafa was born in San Cristóbal, Venezuela and began his professional journey at 21, managing a team of over 25 employees in his family’s architectural glass company. This early experience, under his father’s guidance, laid a strong foundation for his future success.

Seeking new challenges, Rafa moved to New York, where he co-founded a successful real estate and construction company with a childhood friend. Over eight years, they established a solid reputation and built strong professional relationships with developers and building owners throughout New York, gaining an excess of experience and further refining Rafa's expertise in the construction industry.

Today, Rafa works alongside his wife, Tessa, running Kali-Lu Interiors in Denver, Colorado. Together, they bring their combined talents in interior design and construction to life, leading projects with creativity and precision.

Rafa is a true music enthusiast, with a deep appreciation for rock, alternative, jazz, and blues, believing that all music forms are essential to life. His personal passions also include wellness, meditation, fitness, and his family, which serve as the core pillars guiding his daily pursuits and professional endeavors.

Brendalee Tafoya

Project Manager

Brenda is a Denver native, born and raised. Denver has always felt like home to her, and she loves being part of this vibrant community. With 20 years of experience in the construction and installation industry, Brenda has gained a comprehensive understanding of both fieldwork and project management, which allows her to bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to every project she oversees. Though she has only been part of the Kali-Lu Interiors team for a short time, Brenda is excited to continue growing her career here. She’s had a great start and looks forward to contributing to the company’s projects and working with the passionate team.

Brenda’s experience in the home remodeling industry has equipped her with a well-rounded skill set that spans hands-on project management and strategic office oversight. Having previously owned a remodeling company, she has gained a deep understanding of both the business and technical sides of construction. Her experience as an office manager has also helped her refine her organizational and communication skills, while her time as a field project manager has provided invaluable insight into the day-to-day challenges and solutions in construction. This combination of skills enables Brenda to manage projects effectively, balancing efficiency, quality, and client-focused service.

What Brenda loves most about working at Kali-Lu Interiors is the sense of family and passion that comes with being part of a small, family-owned business. She finds it incredibly inspiring to be surrounded by people who are not only talented but also genuinely enthusiastic about the industry. It’s rewarding for her to work with a team that shares a commitment to helping homeowners create spaces they truly love.

In her free time, Brenda enjoys spending quality moments with her kids and grandkids. Weekends are often filled with cooking, watching football, and simply relaxing with family. She also loves attending outdoor concerts in the summer, soaking up the music and the warm weather. As for music, Brenda has a deep appreciation for Soul, R&B, and Jazz, particularly artists like Thee Sacred Souls, October London, and Patrice Rushen. Their music brings a soulful, timeless vibe that she connects with, whether she’s relaxing at home or enjoying an outdoor concert.

Jimmy Velasco

Lead Installer

Jimmy, originally from Bogotá, Colombia, brings approximately 15 years of experience in the construction and installation industry—a craft that has been in his family for generations, beginning with his grandfather, uncles, and father. He joined the Kali-Lu Interiors team a year ago, where he has honed his skills in manufacturing kitchen and bathroom cabinets, doors, and closets. At Kali-Lu, Jimmy has further perfected his style and expertise in construction and remodeling.

Jimmy finds working at Kali-Lu Interiors to be a pleasant experience, appreciating the team's kindness, commitment to high-quality work, and punctuality in meeting project deadlines.

In his free time, Jimmy enjoys spending time with his family and playing soccer. His music preferences lean towards alternative and energetic genres.
